Vienna Hawkins is a creative director and brand designer based in Melbourne. She works at the intersection of strategy and craft, with two decades of experience across agency, in-house and independent work in New Zealand, London and Australia.
My background is in both spatial and brand design. I spent much of my early career in London working in exhibition design for the Natural History Museum, London Transport Museum, National Trust and the British Library. Designing an exhibition and designing a brand aren't that different. They both require asking the right questions. Who is the audience? How do we want them to feel? Colour, type, narrative all play a part. The exhibition adds a third dimension. Materials, space, layout. That way of thinking is still in everything I do.
From London I moved to Melbourne, worked as Design Director at Origin Energy, and eventually established my own practice. I've worked agency-side, in-house and independently, which means I understand how creative decisions get made across very different environments.
